These 2010 Oscar nominees are for the Academy Awards that will take place on Sunday, March 7th, 2010. The biggest surprises of the 2010 nominees are the varied choice in the category of Best Picture. The inclusion of The Blind Side and District 9 could come as a shock to some, but shows that the Academy is getting more in touch with how viewers are feeling. Up in the Air also had a big day already, with all three leads being nominated for Oscars, as well as the film itself being placed up for Best Picture of the Year.

It may be that the success of Pixar’s “Up” a best-picture as well as a best-animated-feature Oscar nominee has ushered in a new era of elderly cartoon heroes….
